JEE (Main) is the national-level engineering entrance examination conducted by the National Testing Agency (NTA) for admission into B.E./B.Tech, B.Arch and B.Planning courses in NITs, IIITs, CFTIs and other participating institutions across India.
For many aspirants it is also the qualifying exam for the JEE Advanced.
The exam will be held twice in 2026 (Session 1 in January & Session 2 in April).
NTA has expanded the number of contest cities/test centres to improve accessibility.
A clarification from NTA: no calculators (physical or on-screen) will be allowed in the exam. Some parts of the application will be auto-filled using Aadhaar database (name, DOB, etc) to simplify registration.
| Session | Key Dates |

| Session 1 | Application window opens ~ October / November 2025. Exam dates: 21 January – 30 January 2026. |
| Session 2 | Application window opens late January / early February 2026. Exam dates: 1 April – 10 April 2026. |
Note: Always check the official site for final confirmed dates.
Applicants who have passed or are appearing in their 10+2 (or equivalent) exam in 2025 or 2026 are eligible.
There is no upper age limit to appear for JEE (Main) 2026.
The requirement of 75% in class 12 (or top 20 percentile) applies only for admission into most NITs/IIITs/GFTIs—not strictly for writing the exam.

Paper 1 (B.E./B.Tech): Approximately 300 marks; 3 hours; sections in Physics, Chemistry, Mathematics. Example distribution: 30 questions per subject with mix of MCQs + numeric answer type.
Paper 2 (B.Arch / B.Planning): Includes Maths, an Aptitude section, and Drawing/Planning section.
Syllabus covers core topics from classes 11 & 12 physics, chemistry, mathematics with some additional content. Download the official bulletin for full details.
Start early and build strong fundamentals in Physics, Chemistry, Maths — NCERT remains foundational.
Regularly practice previous years’ papers and mock tests in real exam-timing conditions.
Focus on understanding concepts rather than rote learning; numeric type questions require practice.
Make sure to cover each topic in the syllabus and allocate revision time for weaker areas.
Since there are two sessions, use the time between Session 1 and Session 2 to analyse performance and improve.
Manage time, revision, health and rest — consistent effort beats last-minute cramming.
Keep your Aadhaar, Class 10 & 12 certificates, photograph, signature ready before applying.
Double-check details before submission: corrections may or may not be allowed depending on NTA’s window.
Understand the no-calculator rule: plan your practice accordingly.
Choose exam centres carefully—closer to home is better to reduce stress.
After the exam, check answer-key (if released), download scorecard, track rank and counselling timelines.

Best thing about Vivek Gupta Sir is his selfless counselling. As I am already a BSC/ MSC, he suggested me to go to Philippines as I was able to get straight admission into MD and this finishes my entire course in 4 years flat. In any other country, it would have taken by 5.5-6 years. Ms Kanimojhi in Chennai office of GKWorks was equally supportive in coordination regarding documents, departure and all other formalities.
We live 100 Km’s away from Varanasi. The internet connection in our town is very weak and my parents are not that educated. For us, understanding the word RTGS was also very difficult. Thanks to Amit Pandey Sir, who is Gkworks Varanasi incharge, he helped us to do all small things. Going with us to get forex to helping us doing RTGS for fee payment, he was always there with us. He only helped us to apply for passport online and went with us to passport office Varanasi. Such support at ground level was provided by GKworks team both in Varanasi and Delhi.
My parents were not very comfortable to send me abroad especially my mother as I am the only son of my parents. I really wanted to become a doctor and thus approached Hemant Mishra Sir, director of Bareilly branch of GKWorks. He went out of his way to convince my mother. He would have come 5 times to my home, invited us to his office and home 10 times before my mother was finally convinced. It is only due to Hemant Sir in Bareilly that I am pursuing my course today. I wish GKworks and especially Bareilly branch all the very best to help many more students for their life dreams.
