Domicile rule- Firstly let us know what do you mean by a Domicile certificate? This certificate is permanent proof of residence issued by the government of India. Every state has its own set of rules and regulations for the grant of certificates. This certificate allows a person to enjoy his/her rights of living in that particular state. For Punjab, the certificate is issued only to a person who is a permanent residence or their parents are permanent residence of Punjab. A person can apply through online mode or offline mode for this certificate. While applying a person may need documents like an Adhar card/Pan card, Passport size photo, Proof of address like electricity bill, etc. For an online application, a person can visit the official website of the state and browse through the website for the desired service. In Punjab, the certificate is granted by the Tehsildar at Revenue Department. This whole process requires 15 days of working.

This rule allows the state to reserve 85% of seats for the native students of the state. The remaining 15% of seats are reserved for non-native students or the students taking admission through the management quota.

Only bonafide residents of Punjab can avail admission under the 85% state quota. Only those candidates who qualify the following criteria will be exempted from this rule:

  • Candidates who had either of their parents working with Central Government of India, Punjab Government or All India Services and have now passed away.

    Client Testimonial

MBBS Abroad is a big decision and your success depends upon the honesty of your consultant. It is a long process starting from choosing the right college to reaching there at college door step and finally studying there for next 5-6 years. You are in a new country without many old friends. We were sure to approach a consultant who is based out of our district only so that not only during admission but for next 6 years, we can have smooth interactions. So, we approached GKWorks as they have a branch in Saharanpur. As we anticipated, there are lot of things to be done during admission process that goes for 3-4 months. At every step, it was useful for us to have our consultant who was only 20 minutes’ drive from our home. We were able to discuss everything face to face any day and thus were able to have easy process.
