MBBS & BDS Admissions 2025: MCC Releases Round 5 and 6 Schedule

The Medical Counselling Committee (MCC) has released the schedule for NEET UG 2025 Counselling Round 5 and Round 6, but this update has created confusion among students. While BDS and B.Sc Nursing seats are included in the new rounds, MBBS admissions are not listed in the latest schedule. This has led many NEET aspirants to ask: Why is MBBS missing from Round 5 and 6? Will there be additional rounds for MBBS?

Here’s a clear and complete explanation.

What MCC Has Announced for 2025 Counselling

The MCC notice for Round 5 and Round 6 primarily focuses on:

  • BDS seats (Dental courses)

  • B.Sc Nursing

  • Pending or vacant seats from earlier rounds (Non-MBBS)

The schedule includes registration dates, choice filling, seat allotment, and reporting deadlines — but MBBS is not included in these rounds.

Why MBBS Seats Are Not Included in Round 5 & 6

There are clear reasons behind this:

1. MBBS Vacancies Were Filled in Earlier Rounds

Rounds 1 to 4 usually cover all MBBS seats across:

  • All India Quota (AIQ)

  • Central Universities

  • Deemed Universities

By Round 4, most MBBS seats get exhausted.

2. MBBS Does Not Have an Official Round 5 or 6

Traditionally, MBBS seats are allotted only up to Stray Vacancy Round (Round 4).
Any remaining seats after this are handled at:

  • State counselling authorities

  • College-level stray vacancy rounds

Therefore, MCC does not conduct separate Round 5 and Round 6 for MBBS.

3. Additional Rounds Are Conducted Only for Dental & Nursing

BDS seats often remain vacant even after Round 4 because:

  • Many students prefer MBBS over BDS

  • Cut-offs drop significantly in later rounds

  • Colleges still have unfilled seats

Hence, MCC conducts extra rounds specifically for BDS.

Will There Be More MBBS Seats in 2025?

While the official schedule does not include MBBS for Rounds 5 and 6, MBBS-related seat updates may happen only if:

  • A college adds newly approved seats

  • There is a late increase in MBBS seat capacity

  • Court-directed seat admissions occur

These cases are rare and handled separately.

What Should MBBS Aspirants Do Now?

If you are still waiting for an MBBS seat, consider these steps:

1. Participate in State Counselling

Many MBBS seats — especially in private or minority colleges — are filled through state quota rounds.

2. Check for Stray Vacancy Notifications

Some colleges conduct final on-spot admissions for leftover seats.

3. Explore BDS, BAMS, BHMS, and Nursing Options

If MBBS is not possible this year, these are strong alternatives with good career scope.

4. Plan for NEET 2026 (If Taking a Drop Year)

Start early preparation with a structured plan.

Conclusion

The MCC’s new Round 5 and 6 schedule for NEET UG 2025 is specifically for BDS and Nursing, not MBBS. MBBS admissions are already completed through earlier rounds, which is why MBBS does not appear in the latest counselling notice. Students should now focus on state counselling options or alternative medical courses based on their preferences.

Client Testimonial

MBBS Abroad is a big decision and your success depends upon the honesty of your consultant. It is a long process starting from choosing the right college to reaching there at college door step and finally studying there for next 5-6 years. You are in a new country without many old friends. We were sure to approach a consultant who is based out of our district only so that not only during admission but for next 6 years, we can have smooth interactions. So, we approached GKWorks as they have a branch in Saharanpur. As we anticipated, there are lot of things to be done during admission process that goes for 3-4 months. At every step, it was useful for us to have our consultant who was only 20 minutes’ drive from our home. We were able to discuss everything face to face any day and thus were able to have easy process.
