Is it worth studying MBBS in China?

China is one of the countries in the world that is rapidly developing. When it comes to economic, technological and academic part, the country is catching up with U.S, Canada and others.

Below are the reasons why studying in China is worth your time, effort and money.

  1. Beauty: No part of this country will fail to impress you with its stunning destinations – The Great wall of China in Beijing, The Bund in Shanghai, The Li River in Guilin and many more.
Do not miss out the opportunity to explore the wonderful culture and food of China. The city of Harbin, northern China will stun you with its ice festivals that take place annually. For feasting on a variety of traditional Chinese food, make a stop at the city of Kashgar.
  2. Quality Education: If one graduates from China’s top universities like Shantou University Medical College, Fudan University and Zhejian University, he/she can practice medicine in most parts of the world. Along with the added learnings of traditional Chinese medicine.
  3. Learning Chinese: Talking about the trading industry, for business requirements, people are making an effort to learn Chinese. What’s a better place to learn Chinese other than China? You will gradually learn the language and be fluent in speaking it while talking to the locals.
  4. Advance Medical Facilities: The medical systems in China are highly advanced – credits to its development. Medical equipment such as Anaesthesia vaporiser, AEDs and more are readily found here.
  5. Availability of Scholarships: China has always warmly welcomed international students. Several types of scholarships are offered to students – do check out the different scholarships for international students by government and private institutions.
One such university that offers scholarships is Xuzhou Medical University.
  6. Low Cost: Many universities in China offer top class study at an affordable price. Studying in China is comparatively cheaper than that in U.S or U.K. The tuition fee for an MBBS program ranges from RMB 30,000 to RMB 50,000.
Every school has a limit regarding admissions for MBBA, which is 100 students per university. But worry not, China has over 2000 universities that welcome local or international students.

LIVING IN CHINA
Moving away from your home to a new country brings along homesickness and worries. Wondering if you will fit in is a common thought that goes around every such student.
But China will welcome you with warmth and make you feel like home, is what Peng Peng Zheng (from Singapore), student at Wuhan University felt.

Mutegeki Samson (from Uganda), student at Beihang university, was amazed by how helpful and friendly the Chinese people are. His roommates helped him browse and buy a new phone when he was in need of it but could not understand the language.

China houses students from a variety of countries, with an intake in tens of thousands every year. You are not likely to find your niche but many other foreigners to meet, learn and belong with. With the amiable nature of the Chinese locals and many foreigners just as lost as you, the experience is not as scary as it seems.

SETBACKS

It will not always be easy to find your way and fit in comfortably. Some of the reasons you may feel so are:

  1. Cultural Differences: As known, Chinese culture is vastly different and may seem a little difficult to adapt to at first. However, you can still try to dwell into this culture, learn and become a part of it since your stay here is going to be long. Cultural exposure is often as good a thing as it will broaden your horizons.
  2. Learning Chinese: While it may be a benefit to avid language learners, it’s quite different in its script and pronunciations. At the end of the day, learning a new language does not come easy. This becomes an even bigger problem since Chinese is mandatory for you to step out and work in the industry, which is a mandatory part of medical education.
  3. Cuisine: Although Indian food would be accessible, it would be much more expensive to find. The Chinese cuisine is extensively different from the Indian cuisine and it becomes a greater issue when you’re a vegetarian.

Stepping out will always have its difficulties. Once you put an effort to get past them, a different perspective will dawn upon yourself. You will not only be studying, but also growing as a person, exploring cultures, meeting new people and broadening your exposure overall.

Whether to choose or not to choose, at the end of the day, is a personal choice. Weighing your options, expenses, and priorities is the best bet applicants have at choosing a country that is most suitable to them. Let research be your mode of information, not stereotypes. Once there, rest assured, it will be a rollercoaster ride but worth the experience.

Client Testimonial

MBBS Abroad is a big decision and your success depends upon the honesty of your consultant. It is a long process starting from choosing the right college to reaching there at college door step and finally studying there for next 5-6 years. You are in a new country without many old friends. We were sure to approach a consultant who is based out of our district only so that not only during admission but for next 6 years, we can have smooth interactions. So, we approached GKWorks as they have a branch in Saharanpur. As we anticipated, there are lot of things to be done during admission process that goes for 3-4 months. At every step, it was useful for us to have our consultant who was only 20 minutes’ drive from our home. We were able to discuss everything face to face any day and thus were able to have easy process.
