Dummy School: A Good Option For JEE And NEET Or Not?

Are you an aspirant of JEE and NEET, and find difficulty in managing your institutes and school both? Then, you must stay here to find a solution to your problem.

All the competitive examinations need hard work and complete dedication to crack it, including JEE, and NEET. All the preparations are started at an early stage when a student is pursuing their 10th or 12th, they also preparing for these competitive exams. Sometimes, it is difficult to manage schools and coaching institutes at the same time. All the educational institutes have criteria that student are not absent from their classes and have regular attendance. This criteria also creates difficulties for them. They are even unable to get extra time for their self-studies and revisions. All these circumstances, affect the mental conditions of students and their performance.

This is not the story of every student who is managing both schools and coaching institutes, some have chosen an easy way for this. Some of the students have chosen the option of dummy schools and focusing only on their JEE and NEET preparations.

What does mean by a Dummy school?

Dummy schools are those schools where a student is being admitted but does not have to attend every class and can focus more on their preparations for competitive exams such as JEE Advanced, JEE Mains, and NEET exams.

Generally, in dummy schools, only two classes are scheduled for a day and last for only one or two hours. The remaining time of the day is utilized by students for their preparations.

In regular schools, students have to spend around 7 hours a day, and at least 75% attendance is compulsory for them. If they fail to secure 75% attendance, they are not allowed to sit in the final school examinations. Dummy schools have an agreement with the regular schools or coaching institutes and students have to attend the school once a year to appear in their school examinations.

But it is important to remember that in India, CBSE disapproves the concept of dummy schools. In India, dummy schools are found in Chandigarh, Kanpur, Kota(Rajasthan), Visakhapatnam, and Patna.

Advantages of joining a dummy schools

  • Your study routine – When students join coaching institutes along with their regular schools, they have to face lots of difficulties. Students have to spend 7-8 hours in schools daily, a few hours in coaching institutes, and the rest of their time commuting. They are left with less time for their self-study and revision work. Dummy schools facilitate them in maintaining their study routine.
  • A interruption-free exam preparations – Dummy schools are life-saving options for those students who are focused on their JEE and NEET exam preparations. In regular schools, the curriculum is not related to the entrance exam curriculum and does not help in cracking the exams. In dummy schools, the curriculum is completely related to the entrance exam curriculum. On attending regular schools, students have to follow the CBSE syllabus and also participate in extracurricular activities. But dummy schools provide an interruption-free study environment.

Disadvantages of joining a dummy schools

  • Lower efficiency levels – Joining a dummy school only gives you a better result for entrance exams. This does not help in enhancing the efficiency of a student. Longer hours of daily study interrupt your concentration levels and restrict your brain from other activities.
  • Reduced friend circle – Teenage is the important stage of life where you start learning about life challenges and enhancing your friend circle. When you spend more time at dummy schools, you are not socializing with your friends, and your friend circle starts reducing.
  • Lack of confidence – At dummy schools, students are familiar with their studies only. This extra hour of study helps you in only cracking written exams but in interviews or group discussions, this will not help you. You need to be an extrovert to meet the expectations.

MBBS Abroad is a big decision and your success depends upon the honesty of your consultant. It is a long process starting from choosing the right college to reaching there at college door step and finally studying there for next 5-6 years. You are in a new country without many old friends. We were sure to approach a consultant who is based out of our district only so that not only during admission but for next 6 years, we can have smooth interactions. So, we approached GKWorks as they have a branch in Saharanpur. As we anticipated, there are lot of things to be done during admission process that goes for 3-4 months. At every step, it was useful for us to have our consultant who was only 20 minutes’ drive from our home. We were able to discuss everything face to face any day and thus were able to have easy process.
