General Guidelines regarding NEET -UG merit list?

NEET (National Eligibility cum Entrance Test) is a medical entrance examination conducted in India for admission to undergraduate medical and dental courses in various government and private medical colleges across the country. The NEET merit list is prepared based on the scores obtained by candidates in the NEET exam.

Here are some general guidelines regarding the NEET merit list:

  1. All India Merit List: The National Testing Agency (NTA), which conducts the NEET exam, prepares an All India Merit List based on the marks obtained by candidates in the exam. This list includes candidates from all states and Union Territories of India.
  2. State-wise Merit List: In addition to the All India Merit List, each state may prepare its own separate merit list. States have the autonomy to use the NEET scores for their state quota seats in government and private medical colleges.
  3. Tie-Breaking Criteria: In case two or more candidates obtain the same marks in NEET, the tie is resolved using a specific set of tie-breaking rules. The tie-breaking criteria generally include factors such as the number of incorrect answers, the age of the candidate, and the marks obtained in specific subjects.
  4. Allotment of Seats: Based on the merit list, candidates are allotted seats in various medical and dental colleges during the counseling process. The counseling process may vary from state to state and can involve multiple rounds, depending on the availability of seats and the preferences of candidates.
  5. Reservation Policy: The NEET merit list also takes into account the reservation policy implemented by the government. Seats are reserved for candidates belonging to certain categories such as Scheduled Castes (SC), Scheduled Tribes (ST), Other Backward Classes (OBC), and economically weaker sections (EWS).

It’s important to note that the specific guidelines for NEET merit lists may change over time. Therefore, I recommend referring to the official websites of the National Testing Agency (NTA) and the respective state authorities for the most up-to-date and accurate information regarding NEET merit list guidelines.

Client Testimonial

MBBS Abroad is a big decision and your success depends upon the honesty of your consultant. It is a long process starting from choosing the right college to reaching there at college door step and finally studying there for next 5-6 years. You are in a new country without many old friends. We were sure to approach a consultant who is based out of our district only so that not only during admission but for next 6 years, we can have smooth interactions. So, we approached GKWorks as they have a branch in Saharanpur. As we anticipated, there are lot of things to be done during admission process that goes for 3-4 months. At every step, it was useful for us to have our consultant who was only 20 minutes’ drive from our home. We were able to discuss everything face to face any day and thus were able to have easy process.
