Global Talent Stream (GTS)
Canada is the second largest destination for Indian emigrants moving with ‘in demand’ skills. The process for permanent residency for candidates with STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Mathematics) skills has been accelerated. Workers can apply for permanent residency after the completion of the permit which is for two years. The permanent schemes are benefiting the companies looking for specialized skills and short-term occupations.
Global Talent Stream (GTS) enables the sponsoring employers to get the application processing work done within two weeks. Moreover, the job aspirants who get hired under the GTS route earn valuable work experience in Canada which gives them an edge when they apply for the permanent residency under the Express Entry Route.
A permanent residency visa application to move to Canada take months to get completed. For technologists, a faster work permit may bring closer permanent residency.
The GTS scheme benefits companies looking for specialized talent and those planning to fill short-term positions. For the companies seeking STEM skills, the minimum annual salary bar will be 80,000 Canadian dollars for the first two applications and 1,50,000 CAD for the rest.
