Bengal MBBS seats increased?

The state’s MBBS enrolment will shortly expand by 600, strengthening Bengal’s already-strong healthcare system. The number of undergraduate medical seats will increase by 600 within the upcoming academic year, bringing the total to 4,825, according to sources in the health department.

The Mamata Banerjee administration placed a high priority on the healthcare system after taking office, including seat increases in numerous medical colleges. After the pandemic, there was a perceived need for more physicians. The state needs new hospitals, which then would require more beds, during the COVID.

From the start of the upcoming academic year, each of the six hospitals that have been transformed into complete medical colleges will have 100 seats for MBBS students. In the state, there are about 27 medical colleges, 20 of which are government-run and the rest are privately held.

The state administration of Bengal agreed in February of this year to add 650 post-graduate medical seats, which will eventually boost the local healthcare system. New seats would be added to about 17 medical colleges throughout Bengal.

In January 2022, the Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee petitioned Prime Minister Narendra Modi to expand the number of medical seats in the state.

Client Testimonial

MBBS Abroad is a big decision and your success depends upon the honesty of your consultant. It is a long process starting from choosing the right college to reaching there at college door step and finally studying there for next 5-6 years. You are in a new country without many old friends. We were sure to approach a consultant who is based out of our district only so that not only during admission but for next 6 years, we can have smooth interactions. So, we approached GKWorks as they have a branch in Saharanpur. As we anticipated, there are lot of things to be done during admission process that goes for 3-4 months. At every step, it was useful for us to have our consultant who was only 20 minutes’ drive from our home. We were able to discuss everything face to face any day and thus were able to have easy process.
