Introduction

Located in New Delhi, the Maharaja Surajmal Institute of Technology is an AICTE approved institution under the Guru Gobind Singh Indraprastha University.

In a short span of time, the Institute has acquired and developed impressive infrastructure, expertise and resources for imparting high-quality engineering education to its students.

With eco-friendly surroundings, the campus is spread over eight acres of land. The institute runs in two shifts: Morning and Evening,  providing a B. Tech. degree in streams of CSE, IT, ECE and EEE.

Faculty

The Institute has a well-qualified and experienced faculty. The faculty is supported by a well-trained technical staff. The teaching methodology too provides ample opportunity for students to become all-rounded professionals by keeping abreast of the ever-changing technologies.

The traditional classroom teaching is supplemented by regular tests, tutorials, group discussions, extensive lab work, projects, seminars and industrial exposure by way of industry visits and summer training. MSIT regularly invites eminent academicians & professionals as visiting faculty for guidance and to teach specific courses.

The classroom atmosphere is synergetic with interactive and participative sessions, facilitating the build-up of a health student-faculty bond.

The Institute aims to instil in each student a sense of team spirit, responsibility and professional integrity.

Infrastructure 

Some of the special infrastructural features of the Institute are as follows:

  4. Well-equipped labs for students of ‘Applied Sciences’, ‘Applied Mechanics’, ‘Electrical Engineering’

Six modern, air-conditioned networked computer labs covering the entire range of Computer Science and IT subjects like Software Engineering, Network Technology, Mobile Computing, Artificial Intelligence and Robotics, Computer Graphics, Computer construction, Analysis and Desing of Algorithms, Interface Programming, Data Structure, DBMS & Object Oriented Programming.
  6. Every lab has licensed software such as Visual Studio, .Net 2003, Auto Cad 2004, MS Office Professional 2003, Oracle 9i, TASM, Orcad, Windows XP. These are regularly updated and upgraded
  7. High speed, around–the–clock internet access through a radio link
  8. Students are offered real software projects related to the current industrial requirements.
  9. The Electronics & Communication Engineering Department has 8 modern laboratories covering all the important subjects like Analog Electronics Lab, Control Engineering Lab, Microwave Devices lab, Digital Image Processing Lab, Consumer Electronics Lab, Digital Circuits & Systems Lab and Microprocessors lab.
  10. In addition to the ones mentioned above, a VLSI Design Lab and a Satellite & Mobile Communication Lab were recently added.
  11. Adequate licenced MATLAB tool boxes, Tanner tools as well as the kits of IPGA/CPLD microprocessors and advanced microprocessors are also available
  12. Full backup power supply available round the clock

 

Objectives

All programs of MSIT are designed to help the students achieve the following objectives:

  1. Engineering knowledge: Apply the knowledge of mathematics, science, engineering fundamentals
  2. Problem analysis: Identify, formulate, review research literature, and analyse complex engineering problems reaching substantiated conclusions
  3. Design/development of solutions: Design solutions for complex engineering problems and design system components or processes that meet the specified needs with appropriate consideration for the public health and safety
  4. Conduct investigations of complex problems: Use research-based knowledge and research methods including design of experiments, analysis and interpretation of data, and synthesis of the information to provide valid conclusions
  5. Modern tool usage: Create, select, and apply appropriate techniques, resources, and modern engineering and IT tools including prediction and modelling to complex engineering activities
  6. Environment and sustainability: Understand the impact of the professional engineering solutions in societal and environmental contexts, and demonstrate the knowledge of, and the need for sustainable development
  7. Communication: Communicate effectively on complex engineering activities with the engineering community and with society at large, such as being able to comprehend and write effective reports and design documentation, make effective presentations, and give and receive clear instructions.
  8. Project management and finance: Demonstrate knowledge and understanding of the engineering and management principles and apply these to one’s own work, as a member and leader in a team, to manage projects and in multidisciplinary environments.

Computer Science and Engineering Department

This NBA Accredited department was established to offer Bachelor of Engineering degree in Computer Science & Engineering and impart world class education to the students.

A group of well qualified, experienced and highly motivated faculty is engaged in providing quality education to the future engineers.

The Department offers well-equipped laboratories to enable students to meet the ever increasing technological challenges in the industry.

Additionally, the Department regularly organizes series of lectures with academicians and professionals of the highest repute, to bring forth the latest innovative developments in the fields of Computer Science Engineering and Information Technology.

 

The Department defines its mission along the following lines:

  1. Imparting quality education by providing effective teaching, learning, research and application-based innovative environment.
  2. Inculcate creativity team-spirit, leadership and ethical competence through collective curricular, co-curricular and extracurricular activities.

 

The Department strives to help the students achieve the following course-specific objectives:

  1. Acquiring deep insights in mathematical, scientific & analytical skills
  2. Evolving responsible citizens who are ethical and aware of their surroundings
  3. Acquiring necessary technical knowledge related to their professional career

 

After finishing the program the students will witness the following outcomes:

Information technology Department

IT is the most prominent and rapidly developing field at present.

To maintain speed with latest trends in the IT industry, the IT Department of MSIT is fully ready.

This NBA Accredited Department offers fully air-conditioned laboratories, containing a sufficient number of computer systems with latest hardware and software configuration.

It provides the latest communication hardware and software with proper multimedia support to each system.

Guest faculty specializing in various fields of IT are invited from time to time to keep students aware of the latest trends in technology. All facilities in the labs are continuously examined and upgraded whenever need be.

Well-qualified and experienced faculty guide the students well, exposing them to the upcoming technologies and helping them become highly-skilled in their profession.

 

The Department defines its mission along the following lines:

Electronics and Communication Engineering Department

The NBA Accredited Department of Electronics & Communication Engineering possesses a fine blend of experienced as well as young and dynamic personalities as faculty.

They have an unceasing commitment towards the students, helping them learn, grow, and develop.

The research interests of the faculty members encompass a diverse gamut of sub-disciplines of Electronics & Communication Engineering.

Collaboration with faculty members from other disciplines, both within and outside the institute continuously encourages. Labs as well as the infrastructural facilities are regularly upgraded and are well supported by both the institute and the industry.

 

The Department defines its mission along the following lines:

Electrical and Electronics Engineering Department

The NBA Accredited Department of Electrical & Electronics Engineering is actively engaged in teaching activities in the fields of Power Systems, High Voltage Engineering, Advance Control Systems, Power Electronics and Drives, Signal Processing and Energy Studies.

It has a broad-based under-graduate curriculum. The syllabi of the courses are continuously updated and the laboratories modernized to reflect the rapid changes in technology. Students from across India join the Department for their higher studies.

 

The Department defines its mission along the following lines:

  1. To Impart quality technical education to the students of Electrical and Electronics Engineering within a supportive environment, preparing them for competitive exams, employment, and entrepreneur practices.
  2. To confer the students with professional attitude, research aptitude, technical and communication skills; also developing a sensitivity in the students towards the environment and society.

 

The program is designed to help the students achieve the following course-specific objectives:

  1. Build a base of fundamental knowledge of science and technology to excel in career or higher studies.
