The Bona fide residents of Punjab are eligible to apply for admissions in any of the Medical colleges of Punjab for MBBS( Bachelor of Medicine and Bachelor of Surgery) and BDS(Bachelor of Dental Surgery)courses. It doesn’t matter whether the admission seeking candidate had previously studied in Punjab or not. 

 

A Bona Fide domicile certificate is proof that the certificate holder is the resident of a particular place , since  their transfer or they have authorised a house of their own with a specific address.

 

Till last year, it was the rule that admissions will be provided only to those students who are residents of Punjab and have completed their 10+2 studies in Punjab , will be eligible to apply for MBBS and BDS courses.

 

There are several allegations related to taking advantage of bona fide domicile in multiple states. To avoid them ,Baba Farid University of Health Sciences (BFUHS) has planned to conduct the central counselling for admission to medical and dental colleges in the state. They have made it mandatory for all parents and students,to submit affidavits with statements of not claiming the benefit of residence in any other state for getting admitted to MBBS/BDS courses.

 

The commencement of online registration for NEET UG 2021 has begun. Submission of an affidavit by parents and students about their bona fide residence is must. If the provided information in the affidavit turns out to be wrong at any stage,the admission of the student will be cancelled.

 

Along with this, the state quota for admission in Medical courses will also work in particular to reserve the rights for the actual residents of that state with completion of 10+2 study in the state.

 

In some politician’s view,his decision will hurt the interest of students who are residents of Punjab. Because of exploitation by outsiders to take the seats in Medical colleges of Punjab.
