NEET 2021: holding on EWS criteria by the Union

NEET 2021: holding on EWS criteria by the Union

From the time of notification itself, the criteria for EWS category in NEET 2021 is facing a lot of criticism. The criteria are also being challenged before the Supreme Court also. Now, in this case, the Central Government is giving their explanation before the Supreme Court of India. The Government has stated to the SC, to hold on the EWS criteria, as like that of previous years. This will make the criteria as people with 8 lakh annual income will fall under the category.

The EWS criteria were challenged before the court even before the exam was conducted. The court gave notice for the Government on July 29th, which was come for hearing on September 17 itself.  Later, on October 21, the court advised the Union to modify the EWS criteria, which was set as below 8 lakh annual family income. Even though the government said that they will reconsider it in November, they now say that it is not possible particularly in the current academic year. The union opines before the court that sudden modification in between the process will lead for unnecessary confusions, which will again make risks in the further proceedings.

The Government had made an expert committee, to study about making necessary revision on the criteria, based on the advices of the Supreme Court.  The committee also had suggested for making changes only from the next academic year only. Also the committee advised to exclude people with 5 acres of land or more, which are used for agriculture from the list, even though their family income is less than 8 lakh per year.

The delay in the admission process on NEET 2021 is getting openly criticized in many parts of the country, along with many protests and strikes in the medical field. Various resident doctors had already started striking for more than 2 months against the delay of the process. This judicial proceeding is the actual reason behind this delay, which includes next hearing before the court on January 6th

Client Testimonial

MBBS Abroad is a big decision and your success depends upon the honesty of your consultant. It is a long process starting from choosing the right college to reaching there at college door step and finally studying there for next 5-6 years. You are in a new country without many old friends. We were sure to approach a consultant who is based out of our district only so that not only during admission but for next 6 years, we can have smooth interactions. So, we approached GKWorks as they have a branch in Saharanpur. As we anticipated, there are lot of things to be done during admission process that goes for 3-4 months. At every step, it was useful for us to have our consultant who was only 20 minutes’ drive from our home. We were able to discuss everything face to face any day and thus were able to have easy process.
