The National Exit Test (NExT) is expected to take place in August 2025, intended for final-year MBBS students from the 2020 batch. Comparing the difficulty between the NEET and NExT exams, which one is more challenging to succeed in? Find out in this article.

The debate continues regarding whether the exam governing body will substitute the MBBS Exit Examination for the National Eligibility cum Entrance Test – Postgraduate (NEET PG 2024). According to a PTI news report, there is a likelihood that the National Exit Test (NExT) will take place in August 2025 for the final-year MBBS students of the 2020 batch. An official source mentioned, “Based on ongoing discussions between the health ministry and NMC officials, it is probable that NExT Step 1 will occur in August 2025 for the final-year MBBS students of the 2020 batch,” as reported by PTI. To jog the memory of our readers, the National Medical Commission (NMC) has not yet confirmed the specific date and time for the NExT examination. It’s recommended that students keep a close watch on the NMC’s official website for updates.

The purpose of NExT is?

For Indian medical graduates, NExT will act as a license exam, determining their eligibility and ranking for admission to postgraduate medical school in the nation. Additionally, it will serve as a screening test for international medical school graduates who want to work in India.

For the final-year MBBS students of the 2019 batch, the National Medical Commission (NMC) has decided to postpone the National Exit Test (NEXT) exam. This deferral follows the Ministry’s recommendation and is described in an official notification from the NMC. The previously planned exam has been postponed until further guidance from the Ministry of Health & Family Welfare is received. This decision, which has been announced through the formal statement issued by the NMC, has an impact on all parties involved.

MBBS Abroad is a big decision and your success depends upon the honesty of your consultant. It is a long process starting from choosing the right college to reaching there at college door step and finally studying there for next 5-6 years. You are in a new country without many old friends. We were sure to approach a consultant who is based out of our district only so that not only during admission but for next 6 years, we can have smooth interactions. So, we approached GKWorks as they have a branch in Saharanpur. As we anticipated, there are lot of things to be done during admission process that goes for 3-4 months. At every step, it was useful for us to have our consultant who was only 20 minutes’ drive from our home. We were able to discuss everything face to face any day and thus were able to have easy process.
