Two-year Mandatory  internship for MBBS abroad students?

Two-year Mandatory  internship for MBBS abroad students?

The National Medical Commission (NMC) has informed the Supreme Court that final-year MBBS students who are studying overseas but were compelled to leave their college owing to the Russia-Ukraine crisis or the Covid pandemic and who later completed their degree and were issued a certificate of completion will be allowed to appear in the Foreign Medical Graduation (FMG) Examination.

After passing the test, these FMGs must do a two-year Compulsory Rotating Medical Internship (CRMI) to make up for the clinical training they were unable to attend while enrolled in their respective overseas institutions’ undergraduate medical programmes. The internship will also acquaint students with medical practise in India, according to an affidavit from the NMC.

The Supreme Court had decided on April 29 that foreigners with MBBS degrees cannot be granted temporary registration to do their internships in India without first finishing the clinical experience in person. However, it had instructed the NMC to create a programme as a one-time remedy in 2 months to let such students to receive clinical training in India in light of the significant number of Indian med students returning from Ukraine. Following the SC ruling, the NMC engaged with the Ministries of Health and Family Welfare and External Affairs before deciding to design a plan and offer relief to foreign medical graduates as a “one-time measure,” according to the NMC’s compliance document.

Client Testimonial

MBBS Abroad is a big decision and your success depends upon the honesty of your consultant. It is a long process starting from choosing the right college to reaching there at college door step and finally studying there for next 5-6 years. You are in a new country without many old friends. We were sure to approach a consultant who is based out of our district only so that not only during admission but for next 6 years, we can have smooth interactions. So, we approached GKWorks as they have a branch in Saharanpur. As we anticipated, there are lot of things to be done during admission process that goes for 3-4 months. At every step, it was useful for us to have our consultant who was only 20 minutes’ drive from our home. We were able to discuss everything face to face any day and thus were able to have easy process.
