Indian Students to benefit from the Post-Study Visa by UK deadline Extension

Students has always applied for studying in UK universities and Indian students are the largest group of students who like to enroll their, for them a beneficial opportunity has came up. There is a new post-study work (PSW) visa available know due to the extension of the deadline. This Graduate route visa is commonly referred to as PSW visa this visa allows the student to go overseas and work or find work up till 2-years after completing their courses.

This plan was launched by the UK Home Secretary Priti Patel last year under the application requirements. Due to the COVID-19 lockdown restrictions the Home Office extended its guide line last week that is 27^th September. Earlier students those who were undertaking their courses were suppose to qualify for the Graduate Route by June 21.

“Applicants who has begun their studies in the Autumn 2020 now have until 27^th September to enter UK with the permission as a student in order to be eligible to apply for the PSW or Graduate Route. Students who have begun their studies in Jan or Feb 2021 have to be in the UK by 21^st September, 2021” says the Home Office update guidelines.

Ever since India was placed “red list” on the travel ban on April 23 due to the Delta variant infection increase, The National Indian Students and Alumni Union UK (NISAU) were among the student representatives who were campaigning for an extension.

While many Indians students has a valid UK, visa are permitted to travel to the country, many others had to face problems and had to postpone their plans. Plus, additional cost expense students had to face around GBP 1,750 associated with the compulsory 10-day hotel quarantine in arriving in the Britain.

“Since India’s entry onto the red list a few months ago, NISAU has been requesting the Home Office to consider an extension of the June 21, 2021, entry deadline for Indian students to be in the UK as a condition of eligibility for the Graduate route,” said NISAU UK, Sanam Arora.

She said that, “We are happy to know that the Home Office has accepted our request and this will help the many students who are unable to travel sue to the COVID-19 situations in India”

As per the latest Home Office measurements from recently, there was a 6,391 increase in the quantity of study visa grants to Indian nationals in the year finishing March 2021 – marking a 13 percent climb over the earlier year.

It shows that most Indian students stay quick to take up their courses in the UK despite the imperatives of the pandemic and travel necessities.

UK colleges are, getting ready for the new semester in September, with a range of measures expected to be set up for abroad students.

“As Indian students intend to make a travel back to the UK, we urge them to associate with their colleges; and observe the movement rules for England, Scotland, Wales and Northern Ireland as pertinent,” said Barbara Wickham, Director, British Council India.

Universities UK International (UUKi), an association addressing 146 UK colleges, prompted students holding a proposal at a UK college to contact their established institutes to discover the most recent plan for the start of studies in September.

“Indian students wanting to head out to the UK should also guarantee to keep on top of the most recent policies, both the UK and their home countries, with respect to make a trip to the UK to guarantee they are well and prepared,” said UUKi Director Vivienne Stern.
