5 Things Indian Students Should Know Before Studying in the UK

For abroad studies, the United Kingdom(UK) is one of the most popular locations. As the country differs many things like methods of teaching, university rules, monthly expenses, culture, etc. change. Getting ourselves prepared for such things we can know what to expect when we arrive in the country.

There are certain things one must keep in mind while trying to settle in the UK. Following are 5 things one must know

  1. Research- Knowledge from experience is the most significant one. Try to get in contact with a person who has experience of living in the UK. If you don’t know any such person then you may seek guidance from consultants like AEC. They can help you in selecting location, university, course as per your preferences. You can also make use of the internet for finding information regarding the resources available.
  2. Study Visa and Other Paperwork- Every country has a different rule regarding the documents needed for international students staying in their country. Ask your advisor or check the rules and regulations of the country. Always check that you have the necessary document before you visit the country.
  3. Prepare for an Overall Change- Along with the weather, the thinking ways also change from country to country. So when you would visit the UK you will find a lot of differences in the culture and thinking patterns of the country. Wether of the UK is more on the side of cold days. So don’t forget to carry some warm clothing and watertight clothes.
  4. Student Accommodation- During your stay, always make use of the accommodation provided by the university. Then in later years, you may change as per your requirements. By using this method there are more chances of making friends from your university and probably from your course.
  5. Bank Accounts- For more prolonged stays, it is always suggested to open a bank account in the country you are living. The banks of the UK are pretty strict about the documents required to open a bank account. Following documents may be needed
  • Proof of ID- Passport is sufficient.
  • Proof of Address-  A proof of address of your motherland and proof of your current address will be required.
  • Proof of Income- This is required to check that the applicant can manage the smallest value set by the bank. The bank administrators may verify your credit score or you can visit them.
  • Student Proof- It is a confirmation letter given by the university. It is an important document if one wants to take advantage of the benefits related to the interests provided by the bank.

Client Testimonial

MBBS Abroad is a big decision and your success depends upon the honesty of your consultant. It is a long process starting from choosing the right college to reaching there at college door step and finally studying there for next 5-6 years. You are in a new country without many old friends. We were sure to approach a consultant who is based out of our district only so that not only during admission but for next 6 years, we can have smooth interactions. So, we approached GKWorks as they have a branch in Saharanpur. As we anticipated, there are lot of things to be done during admission process that goes for 3-4 months. At every step, it was useful for us to have our consultant who was only 20 minutes’ drive from our home. We were able to discuss everything face to face any day and thus were able to have easy process.
