NEET PG CMC Vellore Seats

In a latest announcement by the Supreme Court, it has come to a conclusion that about 70 percent of seats for the PG sector at Christian Medical College of Vellore, will be allotted to the Christian Minority group sector students in Tamil Nadu. It is on the basis of merit and the ranks according to the results announced by the Tamil Government.

It was also announced that the remaining seats will be filled by the management quota students on the basis on merit scores. This will be the same as the previous years policies. The decision came from the bench of Justice L. Nageswara Rao and others. They clearly announced that this order will be only for the academic year 2021-2022. Any other years are not compliant with the same.

Ahead of this, there was an interlocutory application petition that was filed. It aimed that seeking into the CMC selection board where the state had initially planned on imposing only 50 percent for the state quota for both UG and PG Courses. After much discussion and trials, it came into a conclusion that the seats for the academic year 2021-2022, Christian minority students will avail the benefit of the same. It will be taken from the NEET merit list with some backup options that is yet to be announced.

It was brought into consideration by Senior Advocate, Shyam Diwan who appealed that seats should be allotted only on the basis of the state apex allotments. The revisions should be done keeping in mind the tense situation. He also raised many objections which stated that it was a contravention of NEET regulations and that it had gone against the merit list. It didn’t comply with the apex order and it made CMC a national institute rather than a provincial institute.

Arguments between the different advocates broke out with regard to the same topic. Mr. Amit Anand Tiwari supported the cause and agreed about the new quota systems imposed by the government. Mr. Dama Seshadri Naidu appeared on behalf of students who finished the course at CMC but they claim to have not been given recognition. It is looked forward by the government.

Hence keeping in mind all the possible causes of concern, the order for the same about 70 percent seats to minority was passed without any further discussions. More details about the same are still awaited.
